Before kids start helping Elmo run this restaurant, a parent will need to snap the legs and arch onto the main unit and check the batteries. The pieces fit together easily and securely. Since these parts make use of one-time snaps, the unit cannot be broken down once it is assembled. Batteries for demonstration purposes are included, but these may need to be replaced with three new AA batteries, which requires use of a Philips head screwdriver.
Once this is done, simply make sure the switch, located inside the oven, is in the "on" position and watch as children explore the restaurant and delight in prerecorded messages from their Sesame Street friends.

With the idea of a restaurant as their starting point, kids will quickly begin role playing and inviting their friends to enjoy a piece of pizza pie or a bunch of broccoli--once theyve paid with some Duck Bills or Trash Cash, of course.

Theyll hear an effect right away when play begins with taking the spatula from Elmo or picking up the menu from its resting place in Grovers hand. Opening and closing the oven prompts the hungry Cookie Monster to speak, and knobs picturing Bert and Ernie let kids know whether they are cranking up the heat or turning it down. The smart stove makes a sizzling noise when the frying pan is set on its burner. Theres even a bell to ring that inspires a yell of "orders up," just like in a real kitchen. The cash register offers a drawer for stashing bills, and it includes a working microphone so that kids can hear themselves talk with the same speaker that plays all the restaurants fun sound effects.

this toy came practically put together right out of the box which was a plus. setup was very minimal. it makes very realistic sounds like cabinets opening and closing and it kept the kids attention longer than i expected.

I probably would not have paid full price ($100), but there was a good sale before Christmas, so my kids got one. They really like it (ages 8 months and 2 1/2) It is small, but that works out for us, because the baby can reach the bottom part of it, and the register drawer seems to be stuck closed now - 2 months later, maybe it needs batteries, who knows, but the sounds are still all working fine. All in all we are happy- I have big Sesame Street fans here and they are still playing with it daily.

The songs that accompany this toy are an added bonus. My three year old triplet grandchildren absolutely love it!

From the moment I saw this I knew i had to get it....its noy a specific color like pink or blue its for both boys and boys thats mainly what i like about it...also thefact that it has elmo and cookie monster make it ten times better...my little boy loves sesame street so i knew he would like it...so who ever came up with then you get a perfect te..thank you!!! I have twin boys that are 2/12 and they went absolutely nuts over this toy. They fought over the spatula and the milk and the cup, etc... but when they play together its a big hit. theyre open for business. great fun!
